Our proposal consists of a coherent spatial and architectural strategy that enables the development to be built in stages. This strategy resides in the layering of the entire length of the given site info five parallel strips of intervention, which we have designated as Land, Linear Forest, Boulevard, Beach, and Sea.
Nuestra propuesta consiste en una estrategia espacial y arquitectónica coherente que permite construir un desarrollo por etapas. Esta estrategia reside en la superposición total del lugar en cinco franjas paralelas de intervención, las cuales hemos proyectado como Terreno, línea arbórea,, bulevar, playa y mar.
These consist of two distinct sets: two Outer Strips, which are part of the existing context, and three fabricated new Inner Strips, which are posited as the core of the concept.
Estas consisten en dos conjuntos distintos: dos bandas exteriores, que son parte del contexto existente, y tres nuevas bandas interiores fabricadas, que se postulan como el núcleo conceptual.
The inner strips trace a precise line that defines the position of all subsequent interventions, and they are the Pineta, a linear “Potemkin” forest that separates the city from the beach and contains both existing structures and new potential program; a pedestrian boulevard that connects and makes the entire coast easily accessible, a sequence of piers that extend the bathing area and contain leisure facilities.
Las franjas interiores trazan una precisa línea que define la posición de todas las intervenciones posteriores, y son la Pineta, un bosque lineal “Potemkin” que separa la ciudad de la playa y contiene tanto las estructuras existentes como el potencial nuevo programa; un bulevar peatonal que conecta y facilita el acceso a toda la costa, una secuencia de muelles que amplían la zona de baño y contienen instalaciones de ocio.
The strategy of the strips exemplifies our approach to the crucial issue of landscape. We view landscape less as an obsessive manicure of flowers and plant species, and more as the archetypical gesture of tracing lines and boundaries that define the form of a place. The image proposed is thus manifested no through traditional architectural features such as buildings, but through the simple lines that separate the built from the non-built, the inside from the outside, nature from the artificial.
La estrategia de las franjas ejemplifica nuestro enfoque sobre el tema crucial del paisaje. No vemos el paisaje tanto como una obsesiva manicura de flores y plantas, sino como el gesto arquetípico de trazar líneas y límites que definen la forma de un lugar. La imagen propuesta no se manifiesta a través de elementos arquitectónicos tradicionales como los edificios, sino mediante las líneas simples que separan lo construido de lo no construido, el interior del exterior, la naturaleza de lo artificial.
