Following with the five pavilions that were built during the event “What a Wonderful World! Music Video´s inArchitecture” in Groningen, we wanted to bring today the two projects that were designed by Rem Koolhaas: a Video Bus Stop and a public toilet.

Video Bus Stop is described by Rem Koolhaas as an asymetrical composition of glass, marble and corrugated steel that is combined with a velvet curtain to protect the commuters from the weather. The purity and distinction of the materials (with a refernce to Mies Van der Rohe) contrasts with the vulgarity of the television that produces several video programs. The sounds comes from the marble joints that with a subtle detail let the sound go among the sheets.

The second project done by Koolhaas was a public toilet titled “Super & Popular”. The plan has a spiral shape that hides the WC in his interior. The translucent walls were made in collaboration with the photographer Erwin Olaf.
