The university complex of the Law School is organised into two buildings, one corresponding to the former Jesuit College and the other, a new building, which is the subject of this project, consisting of four classrooms grouped around a courtyard. Located on the edge of the old town and facing a more recent part of the city, these classrooms are supported by the enclosure wall that defines the plot, evoking the idea of the wall as the boundary of the old city.
El recinto universitario de la Facultad de Derecho se organiza en dos edificios, uno corresponde al antiguo Colegio Máximo de Jesuitas y otro, de nueva planta, que nos ocupa, formado por cuatro aulas agrupadas en tomo a un patio. Situado en el borde del casco antiguo y enfrentado a una trama de la ciudad más reciente, dichas au las se apoyan sobre el muro de cerramiento que define la parcela, evocando de esta manera la idea de la muralla como límite de la ciudad antigua.
The small scale of these pieces, as well as their spaced arrangement along Sebastián de la Plaza Street, allows the historic building to be appreciated from outside the enclosure while enhancing its monumental profile. The empty spaces that appear on the floor plan allude to the typical courtyard structure found in the urban fabric of the historic centre of Alcalá de Henares. The pieces that make up the lecture hall are joined by a corridor that connects the entrance hall on Sebastián de la Plaza with the one located on the Ronda de Santiago, near the main lecture hall.
La pequeña escala de estas piezas, así como su disposición espaciada a lo largo de la calle Sebastián de la Plaza, permite apreciar el edificio histórico desde el exterior del recinto a la vez que potenciar su perfil monumental. Los espacios vacíos que aparecen en planta hacen alusión a la estructura típica de patios que se aprecian en el tejido urbano del centro histórico de Alcalá de Henares. Las piezas que componen el aulatorio se unen por un distribuidor que conecta el vestíbulo del acceso por Sebastián de la Plaza, con el situado en la ronda de Santiago y próxima al aula magna.
