ParaSITE shelters are custom built inflatable structures designed for homeless people that attach to the exterior outtake vents of a building’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. The warm air leaving the building simultaneously inflates and heats the double membrane structure. The project began with the distribution of these shelters to over 30 unhoused people in Boston and Cambridge, MA and New York City, and since then, they are constructed and distributed every year in Chicago.
Los refugios ParaSITE son estructuras inflables construidas a medida diseñadas para personas sin hogar que se conectan a las salidas de los sistemas de calefacción, ventilación y aire acondicionado (HVAC) de un edificio. El aire caliente que sale del edificio infla y calienta simultáneamente la estructura de doble membrana. El proyecto comenzó con la distribución de estos refugios a más de 30 personas sin hogar en Boston y Cambridge, MA y la ciudad de Nueva York, y desde entonces, se construyen y distribuyen cada año en Chicago.
