Moore’s interpretation of space within space concept is characterized by a subtle hint of inner spaces, unlike Mies van der Rohe and Johnson, who defined their boundaries firmly. In the case of [his] house from 1967 in New Haven, Moore experimented with hollowing out several spatial “wells”, thereby integrating, in visual terms, basement, ground floor, and first floor of the house, paying more attention to the attractiveness of interior of the house rather than the functionality.
